Sherri Baptiste shares her wisdom and love of yoga in a beautiful mountain setting. More and more people are realizing the mind body relationship and that our mental state and physical well being are intimately connected. Because life can be so fragmented and busy, taking time for a retreat like this with its fullness of experience has taken on even more importance and value. Spending time in nature supports real change - change that you feel - and influences the quality of your work and daily life when you return home.
Extended Morning Sessions: will give you time to master a strong intermediate practice. Your body will thrive on the longer sessions giving you the time to release stress and fatigue, while developing accurate alignment and a deep breath.
All levels of ability are welcome!
The Power of Yoga Retreat will include:
YOGA POSTURES: For Serenity, Strength, and Beauty- You will be skillfully and gently guided through each practice, with modifications given throughout the practice. You will be encouraged to work at your own level of ability. The series of flowing movements with breath will strengthen the muscles of the mind as well as the body. You'll quickly notice more ease in practice, and your relationship to your yoga practice will move you to new levels of strength, flexibility, and suppleness.
BREATHWORK: They way you are breathing influences everything in your life. The wellbeing of body, mind and health are all enhanced through breath work. You'll notice many personal benefits from this natural process, bringing peace of mind, while strengthening the body's immune system, slowing biologic aging processes, awakening regenerative energies, balancing the nervous system, and nurturing enhanced creative abilities. During the sessions you'll experience many different techniques and practices that you will bring home with you.
DEEP RELAXATION & MEDITATION: Meditation has integrated itself into modern life and become an increasingly familiar word in our vocabulary. Physicians, psychologists, and other professionals endorse meditation as a powerful tool for relieving stress, maintaining health, and promoting creativity and vitality. Yoga with Weights is the latest breakthrough in mind-body exercise, integrating the mindfulness of yoga with the physical culture of body-building and building on the strengths of both disciplines.
You'll practice and learn from Sherri and Megan how to do yoga with weights as found in the popular book 'Yoga with Weights for Dummies'.You'll enhance your the quality of your bone density, overall general health, and good looks. These sessions will be designed for the beginner to fitness expert, and will help you to bring this unique system into your health and fitness regime.

GUIDED SWEAT LODGE CEREMONY: Healing and cleansing is the intention of this ancient practice. Offer your prayers on the rising scent of burning sage and sweetgrass as this ritual gently helps to heal, and guide you into deeper states of connection with the Earth.
NATIVE AMERICAN CAVE with Meditation – Join Sherri Baptiste for this afternoon trip, and as she provides a guided meditation in a sacred cave, The First Nations ceremonial site. Native Americans knew the wisdom of the mind-body-spirit connection. For them, the human being has always been whole.
PLUS! Two nights of live music: Kirtan, the power of sound. During one evening you’ll find your voice while you experience and practice chant with Feathered Pipe’s own chant master. Then later in the week enjoy the fun of local folk music artists who join our group for an evening of fun, laughter and joy.

Sherri Baptiste: was born into a rich heritage and family of pioneering teachers, her parents Magaña and Walt Baptiste, who established yoga on the West Coast in the mid-1950s. Sherri has been teaching yoga since her teens and is the founder of Baptiste Power of Yoga, as well as a yoga teacher-training program recognized by Yoga Alliance. Joined by guest teacher: Megan Scott Ph.D. Megan, a doctor of integrative medicine, sports rehabilitation, physical therapist, and clinical psychology, teaches at California Pacific Medical Center, Institute for Health and Healing as well as a private and group yoga and yoga therapy classes. She has 20 years training and practice in mind body techniques. She is also a contributing author of Yoga with Weights for Dummies. Sherri & Megan will co teach the afternoon sessions; on adding weigths to our yoga practice.

For all levels with minimum of 6 months experience. In addition this is excellent for teachers in training, and instructors interested in adding a little weight to the practice.
Sherri brings weights to Baptiste Power of Yoga™. Based on her new book “Yoga with Weights for Dummies,” you will explore a breakthrough in mind-body exercise that honors the core ideals of yoga, integrating the mindfulness qualities of yoga with the physical culture and science of bodybuilding. Yoga with weights movements are done slowly in a controlled, safe, and effective manner. Sherri will be joined by contributing author of Yoga with Weights, Megan Scott, PdD in Physiology, for the yoga and weights training sessions.

The Baptiste Method developed by Sherri’s parents, who were yoga-health-fitness pioneers, is integration and well-being of body, mind, and spirit. The method includes hatha yoga, breath work, meditation, and techniques and tools for accessing and sustaining mental, emotional, and physical well-being for optimal health and fitness.
During this weekend Sherri will also lead you through postures for serenity, strength, and flexibility. You will learn posture sequencing, and how to control a deeper breathing pattern during practice, while moving freely and gracefully from a strong foundation. Practices will include, the art of deep relaxation, chakras, and meditation.
Note: You’ll need ankle weights and hand weights. The ankle weights should be Velcro strapped, easy to put on and off. Use 1lb weights to start. There is a 3-pound per hand limit in this beginning class. Usage of weights is optional, if uncomfortable you may continue class without the weights using body resistance only.
