Yoga with Weights:Baptiste Method™ is the latest breakthrough in mind-body exercise; integrating the mindfulness of yoga with the physical culture of bodybuilding. Yoga has the power to transform peoples lives and empower individuals in ways that working out alone simply couldn't. Combine the two and its empowering. Building on the strengths of both disciplines, this user-friendly system combines breath based yoga postures, held in accurate alignment, while simultaneously working out with lightweight ankle and or hand-held free weights. Yoga with Weights:Baptiste Method™ utilizes 1-, 3-, and maximum up to 5 lb hand held and/or ankle weights. The ankle weights are strapped on, and the hand held weights are gently held. Not every exercise uses both ankle and hand weights at the same time, but some do. The weights stabilize your body and encourage you to feel the action of the yoga practice itself. The exercises combine and synchronize the balance of hard and soft, strength and grace, and stability and flexibility, so that your entire body is engaged in a challenging and exciting new way. You'll want to experiment carefully with the different weights, and choose the size that gives you the best workout. Yoga with Weights:Baptiste Method™ is one of the best ways to achieve overall physical fitness and personal wellbeing physically, mentally and spiritually. This is a breath into breath, moment into moment type of exercise. In each exercise you're taught to move mindfully from the breath into each action or extension. Yoga with weights exercise is supportive in building core stability, bone density, and balance. The exercises stimulate muscle toning, strength, and coordination. You develop flexibility, keeping muscles and joints limber and active. Yoga with weights will help you relax, breath well, it renews your energy, and keeps you feeling you're best. In this easy to follow guide you're given detailed training programs for practitioners of various sports: cyclists, for example, might want to try a certain sequence of exercises, while golfers or skiers might benefit from certain other sequences. It gives customizable exercises that target specific areas of the body, each illustrated with multiple photos, and provides guidelines for combining healthy eating with workouts. Prenatal exercises, yoga therapy techniques are given, as well as practices for seniors. Bodybuilders have practiced combining weight resistancejavascript:void(null) principles, with Yoga, for years, but Sherri may be on to something here. Scott kept going, wrenching her hip onto he bike, tearing muscles and tendons around her pelvis, lumbar spine and sacrum. For weeks, she could only get out of bed on her hands and knees. Scott used a vision of a yogic “inner spiral” and “pelvic loop” to guide her recovery, doing gradual yoga stretches to rebuild strength I her core pelvic area. Recently she began doing challenging back bends that would have been difficult even without the injury. “ the more connected your are to your body, the more connected you can be to something greater, “ says Scott. “ then you can use that to help the world, and also be more conscious and more effective.” ...Keri Brenner IJ reporter 'Yoga expert Sherri Baptiste- Publishers Weekly-2006. offers her twist on using light weights with classic yoga movements in Yoga with Weights for Dummies.'
